Quartett

Quartett is a 12 pages play written By German playwright Heiner Müller that came to life with the direction of Robert Wilson’s effective and experimental set design and on a music by Michael Galasso.
This play is based on 18th-century french novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, that explores seduction and revenge.
It is interpreted by Isabelle Hupert as Marquise de Merteuil and Ariel Garcia Valdès as Valmont.
It is Amazing! It is hard to say what was the best, but one thing for sure is the performance of Isabelle Hupert. She is an actress of immense talent and through that particular performance she made you feel the vast array of feelings that lover get over the spectrum of their relation. the fougue and intensity of the desire, the love, as well as the detachment.
The set design and direction of the comedians is brilliant and make up the most beautiful images and compositions. The actors are set to create tableaux, one after the other, filled with very graphic compositions, with strong bold primary colors, in a minimalistic decor. It is a pure pleasure for the eyes and really it is more than going to the theater to see a play. You get the most intense shot of inspiration.
That was again an amazing BAM presentation.
“…a towering figure in the world of experimental theater…Mr. Wilson is a paradigm of precision.” —The New York Times
