House of Quilts
In a labyrinth of 650
hand made
American
comforters stitched
for hours
with
love and precision,
some 300 years old,
all
Red and White,
I got lost
into a dream,
like
Alice in a house of Quilts.
650 Quilts from the collection of Joanna S. Rose presented at the Park Avenue Armory by the American Folk Museum in March 2011.
By the way the program of the Park Avenue Armory is always to dye for… see it here
The underbelly project
Wow!
I just read about and got totally blown away by an artistic project that was developed underground NY in an unfinished secret subway station from the beginning of the last century. This guerrilla style exhibition of street art turned the vacant almost inaccessible zone into an art gallery.
Had it been possible to see this, it would definitely have been top on my priority list. Unfortunately, the four story underground location, remains secret and is supposed to be dangerous to access with train tracks to cross and probably some rats on the way…
Here is the site of The Underbelly project but at this moment it is under construction. Anyway, Luna Park has the most beautiful photographs of the work.
I have to post a few just to get you tempted to go to his site see the entirety of what he shot!

I really wanted to share this interview of Albert Elbaz by Suzy Menkes for the NY Times and the Herald Tribune . please click on the image below!
I love it…
Reading…
I am reading this autobiography of Patti Smith and loving it!
I love her relation to Robert Mapplethorpe,
I love the time
I love the mythic places and people
I love that both were so stubborn in pursuing their dreams.
In addition to depicting a famous era,
this story of their lives is very inspiring.

Martin Luther King
Today we remember all of Martin Luther King’s contributions.
Just pure inspiration… And because his message of freedom, dignity, equality and hope is still as important today:
