maison martin margiela @ Maison et Objet
Here is something very exciting that I need to share with you! Great, great news in fact!
Last October, I saw in Paris, an exhibition where Martin Margiela had done all the interior design of the former apartment of the architect who designed the Palais Chaillot. It was stunning and I had particularly loved the wall paper, a kind of black and white color copy rendering of doors, moldings, classic details but interpreted in a new way that made them much cooler… You can see here the pictures I took and posted at the time.
Than what did I just found? Well the wall paper in question, will be available to buy! I love it! It is produced by ENO (Editor of New Objects), a new-coming French editor of objects. Now I need to know where and when to get these trompe l’oeil stickers, but I will figure that out…

A few months ago, I decided to start this blog and do other creative things for fun…

Well, because it is a collaboration that I participated in and it is really great! That is what I think anyway… But I would also like to know what is your opinion.

Pre-Fall Col: Just some things I love from Lanvin to AW
There is something I like about the pre-collections, they are smaller and there is a lot more essential products that are easier to wear. There still is creativity, but everybody is reworking his system of dressing… It is not a show, THAT comes later… Only a month or two later in fact, very soon that means!
First there is Alber Elabz for Lanvin (off course I would love some of his clothes!) who has been running with his sculptural gracian silhouettes with raw edges and gros grain in solid colors, who now uses animal prints as the foundation if his collection. He layers them, almost makes sure we get an overdose, but you know what, it looks so fabulous! The photography of the lookbook is also inspiring. A little bit like being John Malkovich meets Alice in wonderland, renders beautifully. But that is more about the art direction of the photoshoot than the clothes.
So I got inspired and did this little illustration…

Than for AW (Alexander Wang off course), who dresses a very cool downtown girl, suddenly, there is the emanation of a more career silhouette, because you know what, “my girl, she got to go to work sometimes”, declares The Designer. His collection is all black, with most of the silhouettes incorporating skinny pants. It looks good, modern, urban… I really like it a lot and wouldn’t mind some of his stuff as well!
What else… Burberry Prorsum is quite beautiful with military inspired jackets and coats. beautifully constructed with strong shoulders in great neutrals like navy, khaki, burgundy, dusty white and black.
Rag and Bone has a nice neutral color palette too and offers a very modern urban deconstructed silhouhette with layers. The same school as Rick Owen, Helmut Lang, all Saint, and happens to be a real NY downtown girl attitude, although there is more than one who can claim that status…
Celine because Phoebe Philo is always right, offers some clean choices.
Balenciaga seems interesting, although more artsy and I still need to think about it..
Hummm, that is just the beginning. There is a lot more nice things coming up! Now, I am just going to dream of the ideal closet and hope to win the lottery of the $40 000 shopping spree from net-a-porter in celebration of it’s one millionth order, and you should do the same!
Martin Luther King
Today we remember all of Martin Luther King’s contributions.
Just pure inspiration… And because his message of freedom, dignity, equality and hope is still as important today:
Dia Art Foundation – Beacon
Amazing day today… I rented a car and went, upstate NY alongside the Hudson river. The drive was great, beautiful landscapes, and not that far away is the Dia Center that I Love love love!
The former Nabisco box-printing factory, the Dia center is always very nice to visit and the last time I went there was about 2 and a half years ago so a little expedition there was by far overdue! The exhibitions didn’t really change, but the space is magnificent and each work of art should be seen many many times.
There is a series of great Richard Serra sculptures in which we can enter like into a maze. Their size makes them very imposing and at the same time offers some feeling of peace once you are inside.
On the top floor are the sculptures of Louise Bourgeois, including a huge spider 2 times our height and throughout the museum, some Sol Lewit, Gerhard Richter, Robert Smithson,…
Some Dan Flavin,

Joseph Beuys,

John Chamberlain,

Andy Warhol,

On Kawara …

Then it was real torture, at the end, to resist buying art books from the bookstore… But I will be back again and than maybe, I will indulge myself!

I came across this on the internet… Stephan in his teenage years in the role of Leonardo Da Vinci… This was an ad for Benetton. I love this picture!

The last Decade
I am not making resolutions because anyway I make some all the time. The difficult part is to honor them! anyway, this is a new decade starting, so I am just contemplating the one that just ended, and as it will be hard to top it off, I can only wish that I will keep the energy and the excitement that the last one gave me.
So this is how 2010 is starting…
First of all I live in Brooklyn and I really want to take advantage of all the creativity that emanates from being here!
I remember thinking that I wanted to go out more, go to shows, see plays, listen to music, not miss one exhibition…
I also love diners with friends. I love cooking for them and making it a nice evening.
My creative mind also wants to find opportunities to express itself. I started to work on interviewing people with the idea of accompanying the texts with photos or videos or something.
I also would like to draw, paint and take more photographs, write…
Travel as much as I can!
The last few years, most of what I did revolved around the kids because I love to spend time with them, and I hope that now that they get a little older, I can share with them more and more of my own passions and excitements… But I am certainly not complaining! Thinking of the last decade and my own parcours or trajectory, I came to the conclusion that it was quite fulfilling and that it couldn’t have been better.
I meet Stephan in NY, we got engaged, I worked for designers, one being Catherine Malandrino, on amazing collections including the Harlem show, got married, moved to Brooklyn, my son was born, started freelance work, my daughter was born and now is a new decade with new goals and resolutions.
Now I need to figure out what I would like to happen for the next 10 years. By then my kids will be teenagers but hopefully I will still be dreaming and making plans of more exiting things!
Happy New decade!

Celine, Lanvin, Nina Ricci… Pre-fall 2010 collections
My favorite pre-fall collections as of today are Celine, Nina Ricci, Lanvin, Rag and Bone and Alexander Wang… Apart from Lanvin whose collection is so busy with animal prints, what I like of the others are their simplicity.
Peter Copping who just started designing Nina Ricci last season put together a beautiful, feminine collection in a nice soft color palette that inspired me as you can see with my illustration. You can see the collection here.

Happy New Year and add Tim Burton to your resolutions!
Happy New Year!
my resolutions are not written yet, but at least there is one exiting thing in the horizon for 2010…
I can never have enough of Tim Burton, but with the major exhibition at the Moma and Alice in Wonderland coming out early March, I can for sure, rest assure that I will have the minimum dose required for a healthy new year.
That is without saying how pleasurable it is to see Johnny Depp in a new movie!
